Behind The Scenes

Meet the Johnson Family | Barrhaven Photographer

A long portion of the year is snowy and hella-cold here in Ottawa, so sometimes we have to get creative with our location scouting. This lovely little cafe is a favourite Sunday breakfast spot for my husband and I, so I was oh so grateful when they allowed for us to use their space for a quick photo session. Between the gorgeous decor and the beautiful furniture, it was the perfect place!   I am also very proud to say

Baby de Montigny’s First Month

The moment has finally arrived where I get to show off my very own little girl’s newborn photos! And me being me, doing what I do, you knooooow I didn’t just take one photo of her! And no, she was not always the perfect baby. She fussed a lot, gave me the stink-eye, and cluster-fed until we were done (of course!), and absolutely hates being wrapped (go figure!). BUT she did sleep the entire time of our pro family photoshoot, so

Diaper Bag Essentials – What To Pack

It’s been almost two months since the arrival of my little girl, and after a dozen of various outings, I have finally come to know the essentials and frivolous of the contents of a diaper bag. Thankfully I found a bag that fits everything I need (and then some!), and a mini version for quick trips to the mailbox or a walk around the block.     diaper backpack –> this one comes also with a change-mat (get 25% off

The Official Nursery Reveal: Sage, Cream & Wood Decor

This project has been in the making for a very long time, and now that baby is here, it is finally complete! I have been tweaking a few things here and there for functionality versus my Pinterest-perfect decor, because, well–real life needs trump pretty pictures, even for a photographer! Here is the before (please excuse the cellphone snap): We started with cream walls because of the warmth and brightness it offered, and ordered a custom carpet to match. The story

Meet the Kan Family | Barrhaven Photographer

On a brisk winter afternoon, we set out to the walking paths of Halfmoon Bay to enjoy a walk in the park and capture some family portraits. It was certainly a cold one, but the wind stayed away long enough for us to get some adorable images of this wonderful family. It was all fun and smiles with these guys–even the littlest member gave us some great eye-contact!   I am also very proud to say that they were featured

DIY Tutorial: How To Hang Your Canvases & Framed Art In Your Home

Some of you may have already seen it, but yours truly was published in a local magazine to share my knowledge on ‘How to Set up a Gallery Wall in Your Stairwell’ for the residents of Stonebridge. Since there are so many others of you living in other areas of Ottawa, I figured I would share the article on the blog to help you get started. Putting up one frame or canvas is easy: center it on the wall horizontally,

Mama to Be Stephanie

Sometimes the world works in mysterious ways. This lovely mom-to-be and I were friends over a decade ago in university, but ultimately lost touch. It was such a fun coincidence to reconnect during our pregnancies, and even more of a honour to be able to capture these beautiful images for her and her partner.   World, meet Mama to be Stephanie & Dad to be Guillaume.   Here are a few favourites from the session.     I am the

Our Last Christmas

This year is the last year we will celebrate Christmas as husband and wife. Before you think too much into it, this is NOT a sad post! We are about to welcome our first child, which means that next year there will be three of us, and the day will become a lot busier, and all about them–not us. And that’s perfectly okay. BUT, before the chaos ensues, I want to acknowledge the end of this beautiful journey we have enjoyed

What’s In My Studio Newborn Session Kit?

Newborns are adorable, especially when they are positioned just-so in a way that shows off all of their tiny features and swoon-worthy baby rolls! BUT it would be a huge lie if I told you that it was an easy job. I absolutely love it, but it is certainly hard work to capture these beautiful portraits for my clients. With the right tools, it is certainly made more manageable, and having it all at-the-ready is the most important part. This
