Baby Theodore – 4 weeks new | Outdoor Newborn Photos
Little man Théodore came to visit the outdoor studio for his wrapped-baby newborn photography session at just over 4 weeks new, 30 days to be exact to celebrate his one-month milestone.
I was very pleased that the weather has cooperated for us this spring, because with the studio being closed during the pandemic, outdoor sessions have been our only option for a while (and we can finally do newborn sessions where I can do all of the posing, hurray!). For an outdoor newborn session to take place, it has to be somewhere between 18 and 25 degrees because babies cannot regulate their own temperatures. It can be a little cooler because we are wrapping them in a few layers to keep them happy and asleep, but that’s also why it cannot be too warm either.
The morning this session took place was a perfect 20 degrees, which meant we got to use the beautiful knitted wraps we would have used in-studio. As with most babies, they love being held, so we can also capture some beautiful images of baby in mama’s arms before they fall asleep enough to transition into the prop setup we have planned. Just goes to show that even the fussiest of babies can be photographed beautifully and you would never know the difference. The only reason I tell you is to reassure you that it is absolutely normal for babies not to want to participate the entire time, and that it is part of any job to make it look otherwise. I’d say this one was a great success, wouldn’t you?
